Roulette strategy and playing systems

One of the oldest gambling games remains popular among visitors to both land-based and online casinos. The secret to success lies in its simple rules and a variety of betting options. Furthermore, visitors have the opportunity to increase their chances of winning. There are dozens of roulette strategies for this purpose. Most are easy to implement and therefore suitable for beginners.

Types of strategies

All existing roulette systems are generally divided into two categories: fixed-bet methods and progressive methods. The former is considered less risky, while the latter requires a large bankroll to achieve the expected value.

For fixed rates

A type of strategy where the bet size remains constant throughout the entire session, regardless of the wheel spin. However, depending on the game situation at the table, the field or sectors for placing chips are varied. For example, when the desired number is hit, a different one is selected for the next spin.

This category includes the James Bond roulette system, where 25 of 37 numbers are covered in one spin by placing chips of the same denomination on all of them.

Progressive options

The most common type of strategy. It involves a constant increase in the bet amount per spin, whether on winning or losing spins. It requires choosing tables with a wide betting range.

Popular Roulette Strategies

There are no systems that guarantee stable and consistent winnings. However, among the numerous strategies, there are those that significantly reduce the likelihood of negative dynamics. Below, we discuss the most effective of these.

Martingale System

This method was developed about 200 years ago and remains relevant today. It’s suitable for beginners due to its simple algorithm: you need to beat every loss by doubling the amount per spin. However, it’s important to bet on even odds and not change the bet type until you receive a payout.

The application of the classical Martingale system looks like this:

  1. They bet $10 on red, but black comes up.
  2. The chips are again placed on a sector of the same color, but the bet amount increases to $20.
  3. The ball lands on black. The spin bet is increased to $40, and the red sector is chosen.
  4. The roulette wheel spins successfully. The payout is calculated at odds of 1:1, which is $80. The $70 spent on bets is subtracted from this amount. The net win is $10.

There’s an extended version of the Martingale system. The spin amounts increase gradually after a certain number of spins. For example, three spins are $1 each, then three more are $2 each, the next three are $4 each, and so on until the payout is reached.

The system is based on the use of uneven distribution of colors across the gaming table.

Taking this feature into accountroulette, you can cover 2/3 of the numbers using two chips. To do this, use one of the following schemes:

  • 1 chip on the red field and on the 2nd column.
  • 1 chip per black sector and 1 chip per 3rd column.

Both betting options have equal odds, so you can choose either or alternate between them. This won’t affect the overall effectiveness of the strategy. The only caveat is that the chips must be of the same denomination.

When using this method, there’s a chance of winning twice in a single spin. Even-money and column bets are calculated separately and at different odds—1:1 and 2:1, respectively.

Fibonacci method

The winning strategy is based on a progressive increase in the winning amount per spin during unsuccessful spins. However, the amount is determined using the Fibonacci sequence: 1-1-2-3-5-8-13-21-34-55-89-144-233-377, etc.

The order is calculated using a simple formula: each subsequent number is equal to the sum of the two previous digits.

Another feature of the Fibonacci method is that if you win, you don’t have to return to the original bet amount, but only two positions back in the number line. This system is designed for even-money bets.

Garcia Method

This roulette strategy was developed last century by a famous gambler. It’s based on a moderate progression with 20% increments, but it requires large bets. When choosing your bet size, consider the current table limits—the starting amount is half the maximum. Chips should be placed on sectors with 1:1 payouts.

Dozens or columns

This strategy is designed for European roulette, which has 3 dozens and 3 columns. By correctly placing chips, you can cover 2/3 of the board, increasing your chances of winning.

To make the roulette system work, you need to do the following:

  • They launch an empty spin and remember which dozens or columns did not play.Chips of the minimum denomination are placed on them.
  • If the wheel spin is successful, the amount for the next spin remains the same.However, unplayed columns or dozens are chosen for placing chips.
  • If the spin results in a loss, the bet amount is tripled.FThe chips are placed on the unplayed dozens or columns.

Accordingly, the progression during a series of unsuccessful spins should look like this: 1, 3, 9, 27, 81, 243, etc.

Misconceptions of beginners

Beginner players often have misconceptions about how roulette works and existing strategies. The most common misconceptions are:

  • The results of the spins are interconnected – if one color appears several times in a row, the chances of the opposite color appearing increase.This would be true if, with each new spin of the wheel, the winning cell were removed. Then, one color would gradually become less common, and the odds would change. But the wheel remains the same, so the results of the spins are not correlated.
